1. Advent - From the Latin Adventus (coming) the four week period preceding Christmas which serves as a time of reflection in preparation for the celebration of the Nativity.
2. Advent Calendar - A large card with a printed Christmas scene and 24 windows that open to reveal a picture of a person or object relevant to Christmas. One window is opened daily leading up to Christmas Day.
